The Biggest, Wildest Looks Of Fall/Winter 2020 Are Telling You To Ride The Wave Of Uncertainty
The year 2020 will not go down as the smoothest 365 days the world has ever seen. A global pandemic has thrown everything into disarray but, after an admittedly tough transition period, people are adjusting to a new way of life. And in this case, by people, we mean designers. Rather than batten down the hatches and create austere collections that speak to function, practicality and utilitarianism, many of menswear's biggest names have embraced the chaos.
The results are colourful, whistful and wild, a reminder that sometimes, the best thing to do —in fact, the only thing you can do— is dress for the day you want to have, not the one you think you're going to. Animal prints, parachute pants and saturated colours are the mood enhancers of the moment, as supplied by Dolce & Gabbana, Kenzo, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Dior and Prada.
Fittingly, we were allowed to shoot this story at the Jebel Buhais Geleogy Museum, where relics of the past can help teach us about the future. While it remains uncertain, in menswear terms at least, things look bright.
