There’s something exciting about Five Palm Jumeirah. Maybe it’s because it stands all clean-lined and proud on the trunk of the Palm. An icon to some faraway cool – a little bit Malibu, a little bit Cape Town, very much at the pointy edge of Dubai’s new, style-savvy wave of hotels.
Located just 30 minutes from the airport, Five attracts its fair share of tourists, but it’s at its vibrant best at the weekend, when boosted by visitors and staycationers. Whether there for one of the better poolside experiences in town, the Candypants brunch, the rooftop day club at The Penthouse, or Maiden Shanghai’s contemporary take on Chinese food (with added Karaoke, please), the place has a lot to say for itself.
But as much as it’s great to visit, staying the night remains the real treat. From the daylight-flooded rooms and impossibly comfy beds, to the bathrooms stocked with Salvatore Ferragamo products, there’s a fresh feeling woven into the fabric here. Opt for something with a sea view, watch the sun dip behind the high rises of Dubai Marina across the water and enjoy the city skyline at its twinkly best.
