You’re in town for GQ Middle East’s Man of the Year awards. You’ve got a few days to explore Abu Dhabi. And you want to spoil yourself.

Here are five of our favourite Abu Dhabi destinations that will leave you feeling red carpet-ready ahead of the big night.

Eating

Butcher & Still

We are big fans of Butcher & Still at the Fours Seasons Abu Dhabi, Al Maryah Island, where you can enjoy some of the best meat cuts the capital has to offer.

The rustic floors and leather interiors recall prohibition-era Chicago, and we highly recommend the house favourite fillet with peppercorn sauce or, if you haven’t eaten I a few days, the monster 1200g Butcher & Still Signature Tomahawk Chop.

You’ll feel like a gangster from an old black and white movie. Which is never a bad thing.

Grooming

Chaps & Co

Since launching in 2015, Chaps & Co has established itself as one of Dubai’s most popular grooming destinations, and now the bespoke outlet has opened at one of the UAE capital’s trendiest spots, The Abu Dhabi EDITION.

With stark, minimalist decor, it’s perfect setting for old fashioned grooming at its finest. Classic cuts, stylish designs, clean shaves and beard trims; Chaps & Co has you covered.

For those looking for extra pampering, there are massages, facials and other treatments available.

Masculine and luxurious at once. What more could you ask for.

Lounging

Hakkasan

No trip to Abu Dhabi is complete without checking out one of the world’ most luxurious hotels, Emirates Palace. In particular, Hakkasan.

The UAE sister of the famous London outlet may primarily be a Cantonese restaurant, but we particularly like its fine list of cocktails if you’re in the mood for a few sun-downers, especially at the terrace now that evening temperatures have started to drop.

Background tunes by the resident DJs complement the relaxing, leisurely vibe.

Styling

The Galleria Al Maryah Island

An easy decision to take in Abu Dhabi. If it’s access to the best in style and fashion you’re looking for, then The Galleria Al Maryah Island is the place to head to.

Whether getting fitted for a suit or shirt, or upgrading your shoe collection, The Galleria’s choice of boutiques include luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Gucci and many others. Your wardrobe will thank you for it and what’s more, you’ll be all set to hit the red carpet at Louvre Abu Dhabi in style.

Sightseeing

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

One of the most famous structures in the Middle East, if not the world, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque has become a prime destination for those looking to explore the UAE’s religious and architectural heritage.

Completed in 2007 at a cost of $545 million, its numbers are simply staggering. Four minarets, 82 domes and a capacity to take in 40,000 worshippers.

Inside you’ll find Islamic-themed calligraphy; the world’s largest carpet, designed by Iranian artist Ali Khaliqi; and Swarovski diamonds-encrusted chandeliers. And its stunning exterior has made it one of the world’s most photographed buildings. A must visit.
