Mo Salah Scores A Hat-Trick And Kicks His Premier League Season Off In Style
Mohamed Salah helped himself to a hat-trick in his opening match of the Premier League season, helping Liverpool beat Leeds 4-3.
Newly promoted Leeds were 2-1 up in their first Premier League game since promotion from the championship, but Salah had other ideas.
Scoring two penalties and a thrilling 88th minute strike, Salah closed the game and became only the second player in history to score on four consecutive Premier League opening weekends.
It’s been 16 years since Leeds were relegated from the Premier League, and in that time the club went bust, but despite losing, if this performance is anything to go by, they’ll be playing great football this year.
In the first classic of the season, Leeds took the lead twice, but it was Salah and Virgil Van Dijk who saved the day for the Premier League Champions. Despite both teams having two goals each disallowed, it was Salah who made the difference.
Salah has been rumored to be looking to move clubs, with speculation about a possible transfer to Europe floating around since February. A move to La Liga winners Barcelona was touted but after the unfortunate way the club handled Messi’s apparent desire to leave the Spanish capital, Salah will have to think long and hard about what a move to Spain would mean.
If it was weighing on his mind yesterday though, it didn’t show. The Egyptian star and our Man of the Year 2019’s finishing was as clinical as his new haircut, the Mo-Hawk.
If this is a sign of Salah’s form and the season ahead, Liverpool will want to do all they can to retain their talismanic Egyptian striker.
