The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is only weeks away, and Formula 1 fans from around the world will soon be descending on hotels in the capital in their thousands.
From November 29 to December 1, rooms in the city’s hotels will become some of the world’s most sought after real estate.
Here are five of our favourite Abu Dhabi hotels, whether you're looking for unparralleled luxury, trackside views or to rub shoulders with Lewis Hamilton.
Best hotel for the ultimate Grand Prix experience: W Abu Dhabi- Yas Island
From its opening in 2009, the W Abu Dhabi became synonymous with the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix, hosting heads of states, celebrities and drivers.
Unmissable at the heart of the island, it has unrivalled views of Yas Marina Circuit, with the track snaking within the shadows of the hotel's main terrace.
The hotel offers easy access to the marina, where extravagant viewing and after-race parties have become tradition over the last decade.
Above all, there is the WET deck on the hotel’s rooftop, where guests have been known to mingle with the drivers and artists performing in the after-race concerts, all to the backdrop of sets by international DJs.
Best hotel for convenience: Crown Plaza Hotel Yas Island
One of several hotels that are within walking distance of Yas Marina Circuit, the Crowne Plaza is ideal for race fans looking to indulge in everything that the weekend has to offer.
From watching the practice sessions, qualifying rounds and the race itself, to catching the after-race concerts, and some food and drinks at Stills Restaurant and Bar at the end of the night.
This is as convenient as it gets.
Best hotel for celebrity spotting: Abu Dhabi Edition
The Abu Dhabi Edition has close links to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix even if it is located at the opposite end of the city from Yas Marina Circuit.
The boutique hotel launched around the time of the 2018 Formula 1 weekend and in fact was where champion Lewis Hamilton held his post-victory party.
It’s also where GQ Middle East held its Men of the Year awards after party with the likes of Mo Salah, Mena Massoud and Alessandra Ambrosio.
You’ll be in good company.
Best hotel for luxury: Jumeirah Saadiyat
If luxury is what you’re after above all else on Formula 1 weekend, with a few carefully selected race-related events, then there are few places that can match Jumeirah Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island.
Opened as recently as November 2018, the hotel offers suitably stylish rooms, seven restaurants, three swimming pools and Saadiyat’s famous beach.
Bonus points for ease of accessibility to Yas Island.
Best all-round hotel: Fairmont Bab Al Bahr
Conveniently located near Al Maqta'a Bridge, the gateway to the capital, and within 15 minutes of Yas Island, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr remains one of the capital’s most stylish hotels, with spacious, modern rooms and a relaxing beachside swimming pool and spa.
The Fairmont is also within walking distance of the many restaurants and shops of Souk Qaryat Al Beri, and has unobstructed views of one of Abu Dhabi’s most popular landmarks, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
The fairmont provides a perfect balance for those looking to mix catching the action on Yas Island with a satisfying dose of luxury.
