Iconic. That’s a word we hear thrown around repeatedly in the world of fashion. More often than not, this declaration isn’t justified. But when it comes to Dior, this assertion always holds true, and that’s certainly the case when it comes to the French luxury house’s Saddle Bag.
The bag made its first appearance at the women’s spring/summer ready-to-wear show in 2000, with Kim Jones, creative director of Dior menswear, rebirthing a breath-taking version at his debut summer 2019 collection. And yes, we haven’t stopped thinking about the men’s iteration of the icon since.
What we continue to admire about Dior is its dedication to craftsmanship, which the bag exemplifies in its saddle-shaped form, a classic nod to equestrian sport. Crafted in Florence, Italy, its jacquard shoulder strap is inscribed with the founder’s name, while the gilt metal buckle cleverly incorporates the “CD” initials. It’s these signature details that add a stylish touch to an already beautifully constructed accessory.
Still not convinced why we’re adding this to our list of must-have men’s accessories this season (and for many more to come)? Just take a look at the video filmed at the house’s leather goods atelier below, followed by the gorgeous variations of the Saddle Bag we have no doubt you’ll want to get your hands on.
