Everything You Need to Know About the New Lexus Luxury Yacht
Remember when car company’s innovations were restricted to actual cars? Like automatic windows and power steering. These days, it’s not enough to prove your prowess on tarmac – Ford is ploughing money into drone research, Audi and Mercedes have both dabbled in meticulously designed furniture, and Ferrari has a huge range of fashion and lifestyle items.
But now the big names are turning their attention to another mode of transport: the boat. Lexus is the latest big player to take the plunge. Following on from the brand’s Sport Yacht Concept, the new 65-foot luxury yacht takes design cues from the “L-finesse” design.
Behold the LY 650, a James Bond-worthy toy that will go into production next year. Marquis-Larson Boat Group, who are known in the boating community for their experience with bespoke boat building, has been tasked with building and selling the vessel.
Following the success of the Lexus Sport Yacht Concept, Executive Vice President; Shigeki Tomoyama was keen to “present a dream-like vision of the luxury lifestyle; one where the Lexus Yacht expands the potential of Lexus mobility to the ocean.”
The shape is a thing of beauty, with a pronounced bow and deep curves. Its beam (or width at the widest point for the less nautically savvy) is 19-foot, giving room for plenty of luxury lounging space inside, where there will be three luxurious bedrooms as well as separate multi-purpose areas for entertainment and lounging.
If you’re looking to add the Lexus LY 650 to your fleet, specifications and pricing are expected to be revealed in the next few months. The first completed yacht is expected to be ready in the second half of 2019.
