In the UK, it's fair to say, that Anthony Joshua enjoys a level of celebrity that even top-tier footballers can only dream of.
The Champ, however, seems pretty intent on keeping a low profile in his day to day life, eschewing the Mayweather-esque choice of a Hummer or a Lamborghini in favour of a sleek black Rangey, tailored in a number of subtle ways to be personalised entirely for AJ. That's what you get when you're capable of commanding some of the biggest single-fight paycheques in boxing history.
Delivered to him by Range Rover last weekend, AJ's new car comes with a bespoke black paint job, finished off with 22-inch split-spoke alloy wheels with a diamond turned finish and contrasting red brake calipers. Union Jack badges are inset into the vents on the front fenders on each side, which also boast the number 258, a nod to his own management company.
The car was hand-finished by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicles Operation customisation department, which designs and finishes bespoke cars for its most discerning clients.
Inside, the additional details continue. The car's B-pillars are set with custom plates with Joshua's family crest engraved. Around the crests are a nod to AJ's boxing credentials as IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO world heavyweight champion. Joshua's signature is embroidered on the leather seats, which are finished in a colour known as Ebony Windsor and offset with red accents and quilted detailing.
The car itself is a Range Rover SVAutobiography special edition, which Range Rover calls the fastest and most dynamic car in its Range Rover line-up. It boasts a supercharged V8 engine producing 518kw and capable of shooting its significant bulk from 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds.
"The countdown to my next fight has begun and this custom Range Rover will play its part in the build-up," said Joshua. "With family and media commitments here in London and my training base in Sheffield, I spend lots of time on the road.
"The SVAutobiography will take the stress out of long trips, allowing me to relax in complete comfort, and its unique design features both my family crest and references to my boxing success and I have to thank the team at Land Rover Vehicle Personalisation for taking my ideas and making them real."
