Summer can’t come soon enough, especially if it means eating at Matsuhisa Mykonos

The next summer holiday you book is going to need to be a good one. If you’re anything like us you’ll want somewhere bustling with life, beautiful scenery, beaches and great food.

The Greek island of Mykonos is an obvious choice, and once there, the 5-star Belvedere Hotel will cover all of the aforementioned holiday prerequisites and more. Set in Mykonos town, putting you right at the heart of the island, but surrounded by calming, tranquil views and architecture, the Belvedere is an escape for your body and your senses.

Belvedere Hotel Mykonos

Mykonos’ stunning, whitewashed villas and hotels cover its dusty hills and make it near impossible to take a bad photo while you’re there. But even by the island’s picturesque standards, the Belvedere stands out.

Part-built into one of the island's oldest mansions, the hotel comprises a series of differing sized villas, each one with stunning views and round the clock service and swimming pools.

The Six Senses Spa, located on the premesis offers an even bigger indulgence, taking your relaxation to new heights.

Dining at the Belvedere means eating at Matsuhisa Mykonos. The restaurant is the brainchild of world-renowned sushi chef Nobu Matsuhisa, and guests can sample his signature miso-marinated black cod, as well as the sashimi and sushi that have made Nobu’s name synonymous with Japanese cuisine.

For a meal that mixes the best of where you are (ie, the Greek islands) and the restaurant’s international influences, the Omakase menu is worth investigating. Translated as “I will leave it to you”, it means entrusting what you eat to the chef. Even for experienced sushi fans a menu chosen by a chef can open up a whole host of flavor combinations. Add to that the fresh seafood you find in abundance on Mykonos and you have something special on your hands.

At Matsuhisa Mykonos, Omakase means leaving you dinner in the capable hands of executive chef, Panos Tziourtzioumis. Returning for his third year in the kitchen, Tziourtzioumis trained at some of the most demanding restaurants in Europe. Expect your tour of his culinary imagination to be outstanding.

Built around the Belvedere Hotel’s swimming pool, the open-air restaurant has stunning views over the hills and out to sea. At the back an open plan kitchen and bar is partially covered under the branches of an old tree. Hanging lanterns light the tables as the sun sets.

That dinner here will make it onto your Instagram feed is a given. That staying at the Belvedere will become a cherished memory is certain.
