Karl Lagerfeld Dead At 85
Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director at Chanel and one of fashion’s most recognisable figures, has died at the age of 85 according to reports from France.
Lagerfeld had been unwell for several weeks, causing him to miss Chanel's Haute Couture show in Paris on January 22.
At the time, Chanel released statement saying Lagerfeld was “feeling tired”, and that he had asked Virginie Viard, director of the creative studio of the house, to fill in for him.
Born in Hamburg, the German was, alongside being a fashion giant, an artist, photographer and caricaturist. He was also the long-time creative director at Italian leather goods company Fendi.
Closer magazine reported that Lagerfeld passed away this morning in Paris, where he lived.
