Meet the "sneaker of the future"

There are few things that excite sneakerheads more than the anticipation of a Nike drop. And the latest unveiling lives up to expectations, as the brand celebrates the 30th anniversary of the iconic Air Max 90 with a string of new Air Max silhouettes.

The capsule collection includes the so-called “shoe of the future” – the Air Max 2090 – which takes the DNA of the Air Max 90, including the heel logo and mudguard, and re-works them into a cutting-edge design.

Like its predecessor, colour blocking gives the sneaker impact. The opaque darker colours of the support structure are contrasted with lighter colours on the surface of the shoe, blending with see-through lighter weight materials.

You’ll probably also find the Air Max 2090 more comfortable, with a lighter Air unit and a 200 percent larger window providing the ultimate all-day wearability. It’s also more flexible, with distinct grooves that echo the Air Max 90’s waffle outsole.

Car enthusiasts will also be drawn to the colourways. The original sneaker was inspired by Italian sports cars, and this has been carried through, with colours that imagine the future of transportation.

You won’t have to wait long for the future to arrive. The Nike Air Max 2090 launches globally this spring.
