Casablanca, one of the most exciting new brands of the last few years has partnered with New Balance for a sneaker collection that is as jazzy as it is covetable.
The Casablanca x New Balance 327 is the first collaboration New Balance has undertaken with its latest silhouette.
Inspired by pieces from New Balance’s archive, the 70s style runners feature a waffle sole, and a perforated leather upper that echoes the finish in Italian sports cars of the era.
The collection comes in two colourways green and white, and orange and white with green trim.
Casablanca is the brainchild of French Moroccan designer Charaf Tajer. His signature bright prints and brilliant mix of luxury silks and sportswear make Casablanca one of the most recognizable brands of the last two years. As if to prove that point, Casablanca was also just shortlisted for the LVMH fashion award 2020.
“It’s an honor to partner with New Balance on this exciting new style as Casablanca’s first design collaboration,” said Tajer. “I know the brand works with few fashion houses so to be chosen to do this with a new silhouette is so special and unique for me. The design perfectly matches the aesthetic of Casablanca, it’s the ultimate leisure shoe.”
To introduce a sneaker collaboration into the Casablanca mix, it needed to be bold and the new 327 is a great expression of the brand’s identity.
“With Casablanca, Charaf has been able to deliver a fresh, modern take on luxury and sport while still maintaining a strong sense of nostalgia. We wanted to convey a similar feeling with the introduction of the 327,” said Joe Grondin, New Balance’s collaboration manager.
“The 327 has many classic features that take inspiration from our archives but is tweaked just enough to provide something new and exciting.”
The Casablanca x New Balance 327 is released on April 18. In the meantime, we’ll be working out how to land the role of ‘collaboration manager’ at New Balance.
