Dropping early 2021

Despite never having a proper Drake-branded shoe collab to call his own, the Toronto rapper-singer has long been a major fixture of the scene through virtue of his widespread pop culture appeal alone. Speculation has circled around the sneaker game for years as to the Six God's choice of shoes that he's seen wearing, with partnerships between the multi-hyphenate and brands like Nike and Adidas having long been the subject of rumour. None however, aside from a collab between Air Jordan and his OVO fashion stable, have ever officially materialised.

However it seems that Drake himself is finally on course to join the likes of current hip-hop heavyweights like Kanye WestTravis Scott and Kendrick Lamar in landing his own signature sneaker deal.

Per Instagram sneaker account ZSneakerHeadz and multiple Nike sources who spoke to Complex, the wheels are turning towards a potential Drake x Nike collaboration that could hit the market in early 2021. This will likely take the form of an OVO x Nike sneaker, alongside a Drake-branded Nike apparel collection that will launch to co-incide with the drop.

If the deal does become official, it'll be the rapper's first since he signed a deal to endorse Air Jordan shoes back in 2013. This came to a close in the years following that, however, and much talk was made of a potential deal between Drake and Adidas which saw him rocking the Three Stripes almost exclusively in public during 2018. However Adidas's decision to pursue a sneaker collaboration with Pusha T, which coincided with an unrelated beef between the two rappers, saw that potential deal fizzle away.

The question as to what shoe will actually come from the collaboration is still yet to be answered. Per the IG post above, it's thought by some that an OVO x Nike Air Force One could be the first release, which makes sense given Drake's apparent fondness for the classic basketball silhouette. However no further details have been revealed as of yet.
