The aim of the evening might well have been over-the-top exaggerated fashion, but there was only one winner for us when it came to biggest fits of the 2019 Met Gala. Step forward former GQ Middle East cover star French Montana, celebrating the first night of Ramadan clad head-to-toe in Gucci’s Dapper Dan collection.
In truth, this was a dress code taken far and wide. From Jared Leto walking the pink carpet with his severed head – evoking the spirit the must-have/terrifying Gucci accessory from the AW/19 runway at Milan Fashion Week – to Odell Beckham Jr. in Thom Browne shorts and sleeveless jacket and shirt to Frank Ocean basically looking like he was working the door, albeit in some crisp Prada, all bases were covered.
But with a white headdress, gold and black agal, and a salmon pink thobe with matching gold and black piping, Montana’s look stole the show for us, celebrating the beginning of the Ramadan in some considerable style.
