Since his inception as the house's creative director, Virgil Abloh has made Louis Vuitton his own. After three successful seasons at its helm, he is introducing Louis Vuitton Squared, a capsule collection codesigned with Japanese designer Nigo. Encompassing ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes and accessories, the collection will be a one-off and hits stores in September 2020. Abloh's latest move sees him continue on his mission to bring a streetwear edge to the storied house, as Nigo is the man behind the super-hyped, Pharrell-favoured brand Human Made. While not much has been revealed about the collab, we're sure it will be a hit with fashion editors and hypebeasts alike.
And until we get a first glimpse at the capsule in January, we have been given a look at the Pre-Fall collection for 2020, which offers a more grown-up Louis Vuitton than we've seen thus far from Abloh (his Spring/Summer 2020 collection was centred around the notion of boyhood). Focusing heavily on tailoring, Abloh has designed a collection for the young adult who has just left college and is embracing the working world: tailoring is cut to a slim fit, an evening jacket has been reimagined in the shape of a camouflage bomber with matching trousers and there's even a reversible coat. The Louis Vuitton letter motif is back and is found in the intarsia of a mink jacket, while the Vuitton heritage flower signature is reimagined in the quilting of a silver-grey puffer jacket. Grown up, but still a little fun (the monogram penny loafers are already on our wish list), you can see opur edit of the full collection below.
