The ACG Air Terra Antarktik is as mean a sneaker as we've seen in a while

For nearly 30 years, Nike’s high-performance sub-label ACG (that stands for "All Conditions Gear") has been putting out outdoor-forward clothes and hard-wearing sneakers, equipping both city-dwelling adventurers and stylish hikers with the type of covetable gear that can still handle the coldest and wettest of weather. Next month, the Swoosh will release the ACG Air Terra Antarktik Gore-Tex – or, as the brand simply puts it: “the ultimate winter shoe.”

That isn’t an exaggeration – this sneaker-inspired boot was built for unforgiving winter months. The weatherproof Gore-Tex upper keeps the elements out, and the aggressively sticky rubber outsole provides traction in rain, sleet, or snow. (Not to mention: it has Zoom Air cushioning, meaning the extra grip doesn’t come at any loss of comfort.) The ACG Air Terra Antarktik features a cage lacing system and easy-entry Velcro closures that were inspired by the sleeves on the brand’s technical winter jackets. Plus, it comes in three extremely wearable colorways: grey green with black, white with gold and green, and midnight black with turquoise.

For years now, ACG's been running straight at outdoorsy-but-still-technical vibes – and now, those happen to be exactly what many guys want out of a modern sneaker. There is a good reason why the Salomon XT-6 was one of our sneakers of the year. (Style and function in equal measure!) The ACG Air Terra Antarktik Gore-Tex is cut from a similar cloth. No offense to clunky snow boots, but there isn’t much more you can ask for from a winter show.

$220, available on February 1 via Nike
