GQ Middle East's October cover star knows how to strike the perfect balance.

Following Bohemian Rhapsody’s first screening on Saturday, lead actor Rami Malek’s name has been splashed across the headlines. The cover star for the launch issue of GQ Middle East has already been lauded as “outstanding” for his portrayal of Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury.

But the 37-year-old isn’t just one to watch on the big screen – his red carpet game is just as strong. Here we look back at every time Malek’s talent for smart-casual deserved a round of applause.

Malek often prefers to stick to simple, well-tailored trousers paired with statement pieces. He stuck to this tried and tested look for the Christian Dior Haute Couture spring/summer 2017 show at Paris Fashion Week, with a camouflage-style print bomber jacket in bold colours, and some military boots smartened up with a high-shine patent finish.

Proving that silk shirts have a place in menswear, Rami Malek attends the the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Grants Banquet at The Beverly Hilton Hotel with a simple look, given an edge with the combination of hard and soft fabrics.

The Mr Robot actor attends the Calvin Klein Collection fashion show at New York Stock Exchange. He paired smart tailored trousers with a simple white t-shirt, finished off with an oversized blazer – proving that this season’s bigger-is-better trend is easily incorporated into everyday smart-casual dressing.

Take a classic dark navy suit and pair it with a casual shirt in an eye-catching print and you have a simple but effective smart-casual recipe. For the Montblanc & UNICEF Gala Dinner at the New York Public Library in 2017, Malek opted for a post-impressionist style print in a muted colour palette.
