If you’re a fan of Dolce&Gabbana, you’ll be familiar with the mood that the brand’s creations evoke. You can feel it when you slip on an opulent, brash printed silk robe in the morning. You can feel it when you get into one of their wildly luxurious double-breasted, peak lapel suits. And yes, you can feel it when the scent of K by Dolce&Gabbana hits your skin.
It’s been a minute since the Italians have dropped a new fragrance into their arsenal. Here they’ve designed a concoction for the “man who is king of his everyday life”.
Discerning noses note a scent that has jumped on the ambroxan mood of the moment, bringing with it an uber masculine touch of amber, pimentos and musk. But we take away the feeling that this brand does better than any other: the feeling of Italy, in its dizziest and most romantic sense.
The two perfumers, Daphné Bugey and Nathalie Lorson, have somehow imbued it with a virtual itinerary of Italy: from the top notes of blood orange and Sicilian lemon, to the base’s grounding of vetiver and cedarwood.
And, not that we’re ones to focus too heavily on aesthetics, but we can’t help but feel that the handcrafted cap – which is dusted with 24-carat gold particles and unique from bottle-to-bottle – is the perfectly opulent final touch that only Dolce&Gabbana could bring. So, yes, fit for a king, indeed.
