Stüssy is extremely good at dishing up covetable collaborations. In fact, we'd go as far as saying that it is winning the hook-up game right now.
In 2020 alone, the New York City-based brand has teamed up with outdoor label Gramicci, Nike, Comme Des Garçons, Timeless Textiles, Harris Tweed, Dover Street Market and Dr Martens. Then there's the upcoming Dior capsule release, which saw Shawn Stüssy collaborate with the Parisian house, lending his self-designed graphics to a series of T-shirts, knits, footwear and berets.
Well, now, Stüssy has dropped another collab and it's yours for the taking, although we can't express enough that you must act with haste. Matthew Williams, who has already collaborated with Kim Jones at Dior and is the founder of streetwear-cum-luxury brand 1017 Alyx 9SM, is one of the most hyped design talents out there and so it's no surprise the never-miss-a-trick Stüssy has tapped him again.
The Stüssy x MMW offering comes in the form of another capsule (although we wish it was slightly larger), which looks to have been made with East London's hipster denim heads in mind. The cobranded, five-piece collection consists of workwear-inspired pieces (there's even an apron-inspired dress) crafted in high-quality custom Italian fabric dubbed “California cotton” from cashmere masters Loro Piana and will look right at home on Commercial Street.
For any one wishing to nail the denim trend we saw during the Spring/Summer 2020 catwalk collections last June, we recommend grabbing the matching boxy denim jacket and relaxed-fit work slacks now (and pair them with the collaborative DMs, of course).
