Bless the high-top kings of past and present: Virgil Abloh is dropping nine limited edition high-top sneakers next month, with each of the colourways a nod to a different city from Tokyo to Shanghai to, yes, Dubai.
Really, this is a sort of reissue: the sneaker was first presented in Abloh’s debut runway show in SS19 – remember that epic Parisian frow? – and has since remained in the orbit of the brand.
In this era of chunky, rounded sneakers, consider the LV Trainer silhouette welcomingly nostalgic. It’s loud, it’s busy, it’s ’90s-esque and it is packed full of detail like a Monogram tag, and a handwritten motif near the sole.
If you’re concerned that these swerve more toward style than function, think again: the shock absorber on the LV Trainer is inserted into the sole through what the brand is calling an Advanced Tech System. And while you may not want to try a crossover spin move in these, they won’t lead you astray for easy, everyday cool.
Made in Italy, Dubai has copped a rich forest green iteration, and the sneaker will be on sale from December 4. A worthy way to ring in the end of a stylish calendar year.
