The most anticipated sneaker drop of 2019 is upon us – it’s time to go to work

The Travis Scott Air Jordan 1 High OG saga has rumbled on for some time now, with a host of rumoured release dates that fell through along with talk that they would actually never drop at all. But’s all turned out OK, and you can (hopefully) get your hands on the “Cactus Jack” shoe thanks to a global drop on Saturday May 11 – and yes, you can buy them in the Middle East.

After leaked images, a birthday cake in the shape of the shoe from Kylie Jenner to celebrate the multi-platinum rap star’s 28th birthday – which kind of sent sneakerheads into a meltdown – the moment has now arrived. But why all the fuss?

Well, aside from the Travis Scott association, it’s just a really uniquely designed silhouette. You’ve got the oversized and reversed swoosh, a hidden pocket in the upper as well as the “Cactus Jack” branding, taken from Scott’s hand-drawn designs. Meanwhile, the colour scheme comes direct from his childhood memories, the brown suede upper, beige side panels, toe box and tongue all the colour palette that takes him back to days in his own backyard.

But while all talk is on the footwear, the “Cactus Jack” theme will emigrate from the shoe to the fits, including a tracksuit, fleece hoodie, shorts, a tracksuit and tees – and any outlet stocking the shoe will have a limited selection of the gear that goes with it.

This is isn’t Scott’s first shoe with Jordan Brand, of course – his 2018 debut with the Air Jordan 4 "Cactus Jack" quickly became one of the finest drops of the year. And he’s followed suit in 2019, with the smart money on this being the cop of the year.
