The Best-Dressed Men Of The Golden Globes 2019
Gentlemen, that time is upon us once again – awards season is here. What does this mean for you? Plenty of well-dressed besuited men. First up were the Golden Globes, which last night were hosted by Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh over at the iconic Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
Typically a formal affair, the Golden Globes is a pre-taste of what's to come on the red carpet (and of course on the stage) at the other major awards ceremonies from the BAFTAs to the Oscars. Without further ado below are the guys that we think dressed the best last night (and will probably continue to do so all over the next month).
Wearing: Gucci and IWC
Why it works: Looking all white on the night, Bradley cooper outshone his sparkling wife in an all white Gucci suit.
Wearing: Louis Vuitton and Cartier
Why it works: Wearing Louis Vuitton by Virgil Abloh, Chalamet’s choice of a harness over a jacket was a bold but welcome choice on the red carpet.
Wearing: Calvin Klein and Cartier
Why it works: Oh my my my! Wearing a full Calvin Klein look, Sivan’s elongated blazer accentuates his slim build perfectly.
Wearing: Alexander McQueen
Why it works: If you’re looking to switch out your black tie in favour of white tie, this is how you do it..
Michael B Jordan
Wearing: Burberry, Piaget and Cartier
Why it works: Sure his double-breasted suit is a sure hit, but it’s that vintage Cartier broach that has won us over. That and the fact Jordan can still pull off diamond stud earrings as if it’s 2002.
Wearing: Givenchy and Cartier
Why it works: Simple and elegant, we’d expect nothing less from Clare Waight Keller.
Wearing: Saint Laurent
Why it works: Witrock just proved the power of the Noughties pulling shirt.
Wearing: Tom Ford
Why it works: When it comes to getting a seriously good suit for awards season, Tom Ford is always a good idea, as demonstrated by Hoult.
Wearing: Brunello Cucinelli
Why it works: The interesting thing about this is the black buttons. A simple style move but it adds an extra, contemporary dimension to black tie.
Why it works: A winning look for a winning actor, follow suit and make black velvet the centrepiece of your suiting this year.
Wearing: J Crew
Why it works: This double-breasted look accentuates Hough’s dancer figure perfectly.
Wearing: Saint Laurent
Why it works: As a shorter guy, Franco knows that slim-fitting suit is the way to avoid looking stocky. Who to go to? Saint Laurent of course.
Why it works: A piece by Kim Jones, this a bloomin’ success.
Why it works: The male equivalent of an English rose, Joe Alwyn was the perfect match to Versace-clad Taylor Swift.
Why it works: Kris Van Assche’s Berluti is proving to be quite excellent and here Martin looks every inch the superstar. He bangs.
