This three-day journey across the Omani sea offers a luxe x tradition experience Six Senses Zighy Bay Resort

You haven’t truly experienced Oman unless you’ve sailed along its stark, rugged coastline, that’s what they tell you. And while Six Senses Zighy Bay Resort has long been a preeminent property in the sultanate, this is your opportunity to embrace its signature style at sea.

1 The route is historic

The three-day cruise on Dhahab starts from Zighy Marina, and heads towards Haffa and Sanat bays. You’re following in ancient trade routes and more here, and you’ll soon learn legends and folklore tales by the crew – including the legend of the dinosaur footprint.

2 Your home is a traditional sail boat...

A 90-foot handcrafted sail boat – with experienced crew and private chef – will be your home for the three-day journey. The traditional vessel (named Dhahab, meaning “gold” in Arabic) comfortably fits six and hides a gently pimped out interior – created to align with the relaxed aesthetic at the resort itself.

3 You’ll spend a lot of time in the water...

Oman is renowned for its clear waters and great dive sites and you can book a whole range of water activities for the trip, and tailor them to your experience. If you’d rather stay above sea-level, then you can always skip around the fjords via speedboat, take out a kayak or simply opt for a spot of fishing.

4 But you don’t have to leave the boat...

Inside Dhahab there’s a wide selection of games and a lounge where you can veg-out and watch movies on demand. With a scattering of daybeds on deck, come evening you can perch there – and on the captain’s deck – for some stargazing.

5 Living your best life...

While the three-day itinerary is based around rest and relaxation, we can’t think of many better moments than day two – a morning yoga session on the upper deck followed by a dip in the ocean for swimming, snorkelling or diving.

6 And if that’s too much for you...

You can end the day in what could be your most diva moment ever: by requesting a massage therapist be brought directly to you – via speedboat – from Six Senses Spa Zighy Bay. This private, personalised session will ease muscles and massage you into gentle submission.
