At the end of the Champs Elysses lies a hotel that stands for everything great about the old world of glamorous, five-star luxury. Still thoroughly modern, it stands with reception rooms and staterooms guided in gold, velvet and suede — a renovated time capsule of old-school art de vivre. It's called the Hôtel de Crillon, and it still stands as one of the French capital's most esteemed stays.

This tribute to boundless luxury is sort of the modus operandi of the the hotel's parent company, Rosewood, and now they've decided to celebrate the gifting season by offering guests at the hotel to customise their very own, one-of-one, vintage Jaguar E-Type alongside the man who made the interior of Hôtel de Crillon so stunning to behold.

The experience, which can be purchased through the hotel either for one's self or as a gift, will pair the lucky recipient up with renowned interior designer Tristan Auer, who fitted out the Hôtel de Crillon's 124 opulently appointed rooms.

Together, they'll work with Loro Piana Interiors, a luxury car interior specialist, on customising a vintage E-Type procured by the hotel with a bespoke cabin. Once it's finished, it'll be entered in the by-invitation-only 2021 Concours d’Elegance Chantilly Arts & Elegance car collector event.

"I call the craft ‘car tailoring,’” Auer told Robb Report. “In the same way that you would design a bespoke apartment, you can design the cabin of a car to express the style of its owner.

“For each of my projects, I build a story around the client and create a design that will complement his or her lifestyle," he continued. “I try to get to know each of my clients and work to understand their personalities, hobbies, and habits, while at the same time observing their style and attitude, and design accordingly.

“This experience has been created to delight even the most sophisticated of auto enthusiasts. I am looking forward to collaborating with individuals who share my passion for cars and design to create something extraordinary.”

The experience is part of a set of 12 giftable curated by, which range in price from around $3,000 all the way up to the six-figure sum you'll fork out for the Jaguar. At Rosewood's properties in London and Italy, you can design a bespoke set of luggage with the creative director of Métier London. At Baha Mar in the Bahamas, you can opt to go diving for treasure — said reward being a Ulysses Nardin watch.

In New York, guests will have a chance to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the original Steinway & Sons piano factory before selecting a piano for themselves and recording and editing an original composition with the Steinway’s Label Executive Producer.

The experience is available now for $290,000USD. For more info, check out Rosewood's website.
