Three Restaurants, Four Michelin Stars, One Menu… We May Have Reached Peak Fine Dining
This is how your night will go: a starter or three with Massimo Bottura, main course sharing plates with Akira Back and dessert at the only rooftop bar on the palm with 360 views of the city. Throw in five drinks over the course of the evening and it raises the question: is PM at The Palm the menu you were born to experience?
Sometimes the dining scene in Dubai can be a little overwhelming. For the past five years or so it seems like barely a week has gone by without a new restaurant opening. Fine dining, low-key luxe, foodie pop-up, celebrity endorsed, the options are plentiful.
But even so, PM at The Palm is a bold move. There again, when you have such great restaurants under one, LED-lit, roof then it makes you wonder why nobody seems to have really tried this experience before.
You’ll start your journey at Torno Subito, Massimo Bottura’s homage to the 1960s Italian Riviera. Bottura – whose three Michelin-Star restaurant, Osteria Francescana has been in the top five of The Wold’s 50 Best Restaurants list since 2010 – will start you with pizza and light bites (along with two drinks) to start your evening with sprezzatura.
Then move up to Akira Back’s place – the restaurant that probably has the best views of Dubai in town. Expect signature sharing plates – yes, the Brussel sprouts are included – and the type of modern Japanese-Korean classics that helped Back win a Michelin Star at Dosa in Seoul – the former pro snowboarder’s very first restaurant.
Close the night just 20 steps away, next door at Sobe with espresso martinis, a selection of macarons, and a feeling that you may have just had one of the smartest culinary experiences in the city.
A word of warning is all that remains (is warning the right word?). Despite what you might think about deals such as this, this experience has food-a-plenty. Light bites it is not, so act accordingly before arrival for maximum impact.
PM at The Palm, Dhs499 per person, Wednesday to Saturday, 7pm-1am
