Airbnb's new initiative has you go on the Galapagos Slow Food Safari

Airbnb is giving you a chance to channel your inner Phileas Fogg

If you’ve read the book by Jules Verne, or watched the unexpectedly entertaining Jacky Chan movie, Around The World In 80 Days is one of those stories that stays with you, lingering in your thoughts years after giving you true envy. Well, Airbnb has got some news for you.

Today, Airbnb has launched a new initiative, Airbnb Adventures, which is an experience to channel your inner explorer and travel around the world in 80 days. This epic voyage across six continents joins other Adventures and is now available to book through hosts on Airbnb ranging from tracking lions on foot with Sabache Warriors in Kenya to hunting for UFOs in Arizona. Travel off-the-beaten path in short intimate groups and immerse yourself in the local culture, everywhere you go.

Airbnb has been the disruptor that has changed the tourism industry, and has been a platform for individuals to rent apartments across the globe, and put their own homes up for short-term rental. A change that significant hasn’t been observed in the industry since airplanes, probably.

“Like Airbnb Experiences, people can escape their day-to-day and put their screens and devices away but now instead of just a few hours, they have the option to be fully immersed off-the-beaten-path, to push themselves out of their comfort zones and have experiences that will stay with them for the rest of their lives,” says Joe “Joebot” Zadeh, VP Experiences, Airbnb.

The adventure spans six continents, and the roster of experiences is as just as impressive with living the Cowboy life in the American Wild West to trekking in the Amazon jungle. With Airbnb’s new offer, the hosts of the B&B are the adventure providers. They will also craft the itinerary, where they stay, what services they offer and what prices they charge.
