Three days. Six sessions. Twelve expert panellists… here’s how to build a better you

Curated by GQ Middle East and in association with Gate Avenue, DIFC, GQ Lab is a luxury health, grooming and fitness destination targeting the modern, affluent man in the Middle East.

Running from March 12-14, the sessions will cover topics that offer a blueprint for a healthy, productive and successful life lived to its fullest.
Tuesday’s opening session will see GQ’s panellists tackle the subjects Dental Care and Health.

Kicking off with “Hygiene and Aesthetics”, Dr Michael Apa will show the way to a perfect smile – and how to maintain dental hygiene at all times.

The second session will see three prominent panellists take offer their expert views on “The Power of Sleep”.

What to eat. What to drink. And maintaining a regular sleeping cycle. Dr Sobia Farooq (Cleveland Clinic Sleep Medicine Program), Dr Harry Horgan (German Neuroscience Center) and Anish Bhatt (watch expert and frequent flyer) will reveal the habits and tips that will lead to better, longer and more restful sleep.

On Wednesday, Dr Shawana Vali, Founder of LMS Wellness, will be running the rule on how to hack your body into a smarter, healthier and better looking you.

After the conclusion of “Biohacking and Skincare” discussion, a grooming session will welcome Barish El Rekabi, Group Marketing Director at 1847, and musician DJ Bliss, to talk about instant upgrades – and new techniques – every man should add to his routine in this day and age.

The final day’s first evening session is titled “Fitness: Strength, Flexibility and Power”, and will see three expert panellists take to the stage. Nic St Maurice, Managing Partner at Transform Altitude Performance, Essa Al Ansari, founder of Fitness with Essa, and Karen Mattar will share their views on the latest gym, tech and nutrition trends to build the ultimate healthy body.

Lastly, GQ Lab will wrap with Thursday’s second session, “The Mindful Playbook: Techniques to action every day”.

Our lives are filled with unprecedented levels of stress, distraction, screen times and increased demands at work. What practical, impactful mindfulness techniques should the GQ man implement into his daily routine? And why is it so important that he does?

Advising on how to achieve peak performance living will be Dr Vali; author of Just Read It, Omar Al Busaidy; Anas Bukhash, Founder, Bukhash Brothers and Hassan Hamza.

The Gate Avenue project is a seamless walk-way connecting all buildings in the DIFC. Open for use by the DIFC community as well as the public, there is currently access from Marble Walk at the Gate District, to the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Al Fattan Currency House. Other connections will be announced shortly.
